Itron Announces Executive Changes and Promotions
Malcolm Unsworth Promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer

LIBERTY LAKE, WA — April 15, 2008 — Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced the promotion of Malcolm Unsworth to President and Chief Operating Officer of Itron, Inc. effective immediately. In this position, Unsworth will oversee the Company’s two operating segments, Itron North America and Actaris, and will focus on evaluating synergies and opportunities between the two segments.

Mr. Unsworth joined Itron in July 2004 with the acquisition of Schlumberger Electricity Metering (SEM). Since joining Itron he has been Sr. VP, Hardware Solutions and most recently Sr. VP and COO of our Actaris business, which we acquired on April 18, 2007. Prior to joining Itron, Unsworth spent 25 years with Schlumberger, including 11 years associated with the electricity meter business. He was President of SEM prior to the acquisition and also served as VP and General Manager of Schlumberger’s North America Operations in charge of water, electricity and gas products in addition to running the CellNet business for several years.

Mr. Unsworth will report directly to LeRoy Nosbaum, Chairman and CEO. "Malcolm has been part of the Itron family for almost four years and during that time has gained a great understanding of all aspects of our business," said Mr. Nosbaum. "He has been an influential leader and shown a level of execution that makes this promotion an easy decision."

Itron also announced the promotion of Marcel Regnier to Sr. VP and COO, Actaris. Mr. Regnier joined Itron in April 2007 with the acquisition of Actaris and has been Managing Director of Actaris’ water and heat business unit for seven years. Mr. Regnier has been with Actaris since its formation in 2001, and prior to that was with Schlumberger for 20 years and held a variety of positions in research and development, marketing and operations. Regnier and Philip Mezey, Sr. VP and COO, Itron North America, will report directly to Unsworth.

"I would like to congratulate Marcel on his promotion," said Mr. Unsworth. "Marcel has been an invaluable leader for Actaris and has been instrumental in making this acquisition a success.
With Philip continuing to focus on the transition in North America from AMR to AMI and Marcel focused on opportunities outside of the United States, we have a very strong team in place to take advantage of the opportunities in the industry today on a worldwide basis."
