Actaris launch industry leading GT&D electricity meter
Dec 05, 2006

Actaris has used cutting-edge technology in order to create one of the highest-level precision and performance electricity meters in the market – The ACE8000 PowerGrid with 0.1% metrology for high-end applications.

This industry leading technology is designed to offer power generation plants, utilities, grid owners and high-end customers innovative energy measurement.

The meter design is focused on three key aspects: high precision, flexibility of installation and long-term stability. It is critical for a HV Grid meter to maintain accuracy over time; disputes that may arise from inaccurate metering data have a very high financial impact in HV Grid operations. Whereas the ACE8000 PowerGrid’s performance remains completely consistent, securing revenue over the whole life of the product within 0.1% accuracy.

Actaris have used a combination of passive components, critical for reliability and long-term stability. The current sensor is a passive current transformer with a core made of new ultra-thin nano-crystalline material. This sensor has remarkable linearity within extended current, frequency and temperature ranges and proven long-term stability.

China, with 5GW capacity growth per month and one of the most demanding global markets for transmission and distribution metering, is just one country keenly awaiting the arrival of the ACE8000 PowerGrid. Actaris highly successful industrial meter the ACE SL7000 is already installed in the world’s largest hydroelectric power station, the Three Gorges Dam in Hubei province, China.

Together with Actaris meter reading system ACE Vision, this solution offers a comprehensive meter management system.
